The Vice President, Alhaji Namadi Sambo has reiterated the neutrality the presidency showed during the primaries across the nation to elect candidates for elective posts. Namadi, speaking through his Special Adviser, Media, Umar Sani further said this neutrality by the presidency was evident in the manner at which former ministers and Special Advisers of President Goodluck Jonathan lost their bids to secure the governorship tickets of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in their respective states. The VP was in Sokoto to reconcile aggrieved governorship aspirants of the party in the state. According to him, the presidency allowed delegates to choose their candidates without any form of influence. He said the reconciliation effort was yielding results as a lot of fences had been mended in the process.

“Prior to our visit to Lagos State, there were a lot of crisis in the state chapter of the party but the VP was able to resolve them all. “What he did was he allowed the aggrieved aspirants to sit together and iron things out themselves and it was successful. The same thing happened in Kebbi State and we are determined to resolve the Sokoto issues,” he stated. According to him, all issues concerning lower elections had been resolved. “I am, therefore, optimistic that we are going to resolve that of Sokoto,” he said.
