Chairman,
Pankshin Local Government of Plateau, Mr. Samuel Goar, on Thursday
directed contractors handling various projects worth N215 million to
complete them or face revocation.
The
chairman gave the directive in Pankshin while inspecting various
projects being executed by his administration within its one year in
office.
The News
Agency of Nigeria reports that the projects inspected by the chairman
included the Mini Stadium (N138m); 10 Kilometre Lankan-Abwor-Dyis road
(N50m), and 30 open stalls at Chip Market (N6m).
Others
include Tal Bridge (7.4m); newly constructed 30 locked up shops (N14m);
34 renovated shops; renovated abattoir and a water drainage system all
in Pankshin Monday Market.
The
chairman said that he was marking his first anniversary in office this
month and would not want any of the projects left uncompleted.
“You (contractors) must ensure that you hasten up and meet up with this month (February) completion deadline.
“I won’t hesitate to revoke any contract that fails to meet up with the completion period,” he warned.
Responding,
Mr. Christopher Eze, Site Engineer handling the Tal Bridge and the
10-kilometre Lankan-Abwor-Dyis road, said the bridge would be completed
in two weeks while work on the road would end on schedule.
“Sir, the
Tal bridge is 90 per cent completed while the road is about 55 percent
completed; by God’s grace, we will complete it by the end of this
month,” he assured.
Mr. Bisi
Adeyemi from the construction firm handling the mini stadium, Egip
Global Ventures Limited, said work was 70 per cent completed.
According to Adeyemi, “we are hoping to hand over the project we started last July to you by this April.”
Goar was
accompanied by PDP House of Representatives candidate for
Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam, Mr. Timothy Golu, House of Assembly member and PDP
candidate for Pankshin North, Mr. Diket Plang, and other council
officials.
